There is an interesting location anomaly – the western half of 91214 is legally a Glendale Ca neighborhood and is officially called Crescenta Highlands. The dividing line between the County Unincorporated part of La Crescenta and the part that is the City of Glendale is Pennsylvania.
What We Love About La Crescenta
Outdoor activities are a big attraction because we are on the edge of the Angeles National Forest, and tons of interesting and easy hiking trails. The great outdoors is literally in our backyard. Also, we have the best dog park in the region.
Many people buy a home in La Crescenta because of the schools. Most La Crescenta Area schools rank 8 or 9 on Great Schools, but the bigger measure is the parent involvement and reviews. Glendale Unified is the governing school district, but the schools attached to 91214 are consistently ranked the highest in the district.
We love the small-town feel, here. Families and businesses can date themselves several generations deep in La Crescenta. One of our favorite small-town events in La Crescenta is the annual 4th of July Fireworks show. This is an event that brings the entire town together.
Also- few people realize that the 118 Freeway makes our access to the Valley and Westside easier and faster at peak commute times than access from Glendale.
Stuff We Don’t Love
If you crave the Big City lifestyle, a La Crescenta home can seem a bit removed from everything. Also, while we have some great restaurants, we don’t have a lot of them.
La Crescenta Schools
La Crescenta (and the Crescenta Highlands) homes belong to the Glendale Unified School District, although most people assume there is a separate district. School minded families want to buy a La Crescenta home because every school is coveted.

There are five elementary schools in the area and all are considered top-shelf. Many people who buy in La Crescenta consider Rosemont Middle School as the top school in the district as is Crescenta Valley High School. Clark Magnet High School rounds out the mix.
