The emotional center of Montrose CA is the Montrose Shopping Park. This is small town living at its absolute finest! The village has everything you need: banking, groceries, boutiques, great eats and lots of hair, nail and exercise options. Your life here is truly walkable – a wonderful rarity in LA.
The Shopping Park is so charming it is frequently featured in television and movies as Small Town USA. Last year’s titles include “The Muppets,” “Seriously Funny Kids,” “CSI,” “Glee,” “Carnal Innocence,” “Grace,” “Celebrity Rehab,” “Chuck,” “The Mentalist,” “God Bless America,” “The Ballerino,” “Sons of Anarchy” (which shoots in the area fairly often), “Desperate Housewives,” “Mobbed with Howie Mandel” and “Parks and Recreation.” Films include “Moneyball,” “The Artist,” “The Ugly Truth,” “Horrible Bosses,” “Bad Teacher,” “The Details” and “The Lovelace”.
DIGGS was the location for a pilot episode of a John Cryer cable series that sadly never saw the light of day.
It is also a community gathering place where you are sure to run into neighbors and friends. The Black Cow cafe is a breakfast favorite! Every Sunday is the Harvest Market filled with fresh farmer’s produce, arts and crafts booths and attractions for the kids. Seasonal events include the Oktober Fest, Wine Walk and Arts and Crafts Festival. The Montrose Christmas Parade is the “can’t miss” event of the year. You’ve gotta to see Santa Clause buzz the parade route in a helicopter!
